I carve, incise, & impress porcelain clay to create mosaic elements with bas-relief detail. I develop my own glazes, apply them with brushes & high-fire the elements to develop color and strength.
With a collection of finished parts, I bring a multitude of elements together into a cohesive, harmonious whole. I placed quartz crystal and citrine semi-precious stones in the background, to represent light.
We use traditional tile-setting techniques to mortar the pieces onto backer board & we use a high performance grout. This mosaic is a durable work of art that can hang on a wall or become the focus of a permanent installation inside or outdoors.
